The purpose of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is to extend to people with disabilities civil rights similar to those now available in the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, and religion through the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in the private sector employment, services rendered by state and local governments, places of public accommodation, transportation, and telecommunications services.
ASU Three Rivers is dedicated to accommodating students with disabilities, pursuant to federal and state laws. The College provides disability accommodations through the Office of Disability Services. Services available to students with disabilities include, but are not limited to, extended time on tests, note taking services, recording of class lectures, special seating arrangements, interpreter services, physical access to educational and related facilities and other reasonable accommodations. The College campus is also wheelchair accessible.
ASU Three Rivers requires students to have a licensed health care professional complete Health Care Professional Form before accommodations can be provided. This form will document the disability and list specific accommodations recommended by the health care professional. Once completed, this form must be submitted to the ADA/Section 504 Coordinator in the Division of Student Affairs. For more information about the required documentation or any other disability services related question, please contact the ADA/Section 504 Coordinator:
