The MASK MANDATE remains in effect for all persons while they interact within any facility operated by ASU Three Rivers. Exceptions to this requirement include the allowance to remove the face covering while alone in an office or workspace; or at the discretion of the instructor when and if removing the mask will facilitate instruction and adequate social distancing can be met.

Quarantine Guidelines are as follows:

If you have TESTED POSITIVE
              Regardless of Vaccination:

  • Quarantine for 5 days from start of symptoms (or day of test if asymptomatic)
  • Wear a mask around others for 5 additional days regardless of mask requirements
  • You must be fever free for 24 hours before leaving quarantine

If you have been EXPOSED (had direct contact as defined by CDC) to someone who tested positive

VACCINATED (two-weeks after last dose - two shots for Pfizer/Moderna, one shot for J&J)

  • No symptoms – You do not have to quarantine. You will need to have a Covid test done at a medical office (NOT a home test) 3-5 days from exposure.
  • With symptoms – Quarantine for 5 days, from START of symptoms. You may return to campus after the five days, if improving and fever-free for 24-hours, and wearing a mask when around others.

            NOT Vaccinated

  • Regardless of Symptoms – You will need to quarantine for 10 days

NOTE: You MUST complete an ASUTR Contact Tracing Self-Report Form if you are exposed to someone that tested positive, if YOU have tested positive, and/or if you are experiencing any symptoms. Other relevant issues:

  • Fall and Winter last year is when we saw the spike and increase in COVID numbers.
  • Influenza may cause additional complications, more so than last year.
  • If you had the monoclonal antibody, you do not need to wait to get the flu vaccine, but you DO have to wait 90 days before you can receive the booster.

Updates from September 24, 2021, ADH and ADHE meeting:

As of midnight (September 24, 2021) Pfizer was authorized for the following:

  • People residing in long term care facilities (dorms and on-campus residential housing are included in this category);

  • People in high risk occupations, such as health care providors;

  • People 50 and older, with chronic health conditions; and

  • People 18-49 IF they have chronic health conditions.

This applies to teachers; however, It is not clear, at this point, if this applies only to K-12 or if higher ed is included.

Poultry worker and other high-density work environment employees are being considered.

NOTE: The authorization for Pfizer pertains to those who are 6 months past their second dose.

The dosage for the Pfizer booster will be a smaller dose than the previous series.

Flu Vaccine

  • Encourage ages 9 years and younger to get 2 flu vaccines (4 weeks apart) prior to the end of October for maximum coverage.
  • Pregnant women, in their third trimester, should get vaccinated right away to provide coverage for the baby.

NOTE: the COVID and Flu vaccines can be given at the same time.

Updates from the August 20, 2021 meeting with ADH and ADHE

If you are fully vaccinated and are exposed to a positive case:

  • Asymptomatic:
      • Required to get a COVID test 3-5 days after exposure
      • Required to wear a mask for 14 days past exposure.
      • Not required to quarantine
  • Symptomatic:
    • Required to quarantine 10 days
    • Wear a mask for 14 days

If you are not fully vaccinated, and exposed to a positive case, there is no change in the process:

  • Quarantine 14 days

ADH is currently backlogged in contact tracing, and therefore, focusing on cases 5 days and newer. If the positive case has not been contacted by ADH by day 6 of submitting the form, they may not be contacted by ADH.

Reporting:

  • The requirement to separately report break through cases has been eliminated.
  • The requirement to separately report positive cases associated with colleges and universities has been reinstated.

Discussion on Booster and Third Dose Vaccine:

  • Third Dose vaccines are being provide to those with weak immune systems. Due to their immune systems, the effectiveness of the Moderna or Pfizer was less than that of people with normal to strong immune systems.
  • “Booster shot” is for those with normal immune systems. It will be provided to those who have been fully vaccinated with the Moderna or Pfizer but due to time, the effectiveness of the vaccine has decreased.
    • Neither the CDC or ACIP has authorized or approved the booster vaccines.
    • Hope to have approval and authorization by the end of August.
    • ASUTR will offer the Booster vaccines during the Clinic scheduled on September 24th (pending approval).
