Arkansas SkillsUSA, a student organization focusing on career and technical knowledge, skills, and abilities, in addition to leadership opportunities, appoints nine officers to serve the state chapters each school year. Applications are accepted and appointments are made in October. The criteria considered in making the appointments are aligned with a rubric containing the following: GPA, previous leadership involvement, an essay, and general effect of the application itself. These officers attend events around the state representing the student organization and its interests, receive national leadership training and scholarship opportunities from various post-secondary institutions, and qualify to serve as a national SkillsUSA officer. Out of the NINE appointed positions for theschool year, FIVE of them were appointed from our ASU Three Rivers Career Center! Congratulations to the following students for the appointments: Kayleigh Chaney (Glen Rose HS/CNA), Secretary; Jac Campos (Malvern HS/Criminal Justice), Reporter; Dominique Harper (Malvern HS/Criminal Justice), Parliamentarian; Joseph Jester (Arkadelphia HS/Welding), Alternate; Zane Austin (Poyen HS/Criminal Justice), Alternate. Also, CONGRATULATIONS, GOOD JOB, and THANK YOU to the instructors who assisted these students in preparing and submitting their applications, Derrell Campbell (Welding), Toni Dyer (CNA), and Bobby Shell (Criminal Justice).
