Malvern, AR – The first Commencement Exercises as Arkansas State University Three Rivers were anything but traditional. Students graduating in 2020 are the first graduates to receive an Arkansas State University Three Rivers diploma. The College officially joined the ASU System in January 2020.
With physical distancing restrictions due to COVID-19, the College opted to hold four drive-through ceremonies to celebrate the graduates this year. Each ceremony was held in the Arts and Sciences Building parking lot. Graduates were directed into the parking lot facing the building and could tune into FM 107.3 to hear the broadcast of the ceremony on their car radios.
Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing graduation ceremonies were held Friday, July 24, at 4:00PM and 6:00PM respectively. During both Nursing ceremonies, the graduates stood next to their vehicles while reciting the Nursing Oath.
Saturday, July 25, all Arts and Sciences, Business, and Applied Science graduates enjoyed a 3:00PM ceremony while Adult Education celebrated their GED graduates at 6:30PM.
ASU Three Rivers celebrated a total of 413 students who earned 570 certificates and degrees this year; with 46 of the graduates receiving multiple credentials, some as many as 7 certificates and/or degrees. The youngest graduate is 17, while the oldest is 52.
